
Environmental scientist up for award following research at Harper Adams

An environmental scientist from the Netherlands has been nominated as a ‘Young Talent’ at her university following an internship at Harper Adams.
Lise Marie Bom spent five months at the university in Shropshire, working on a project that investigates using bioethanol production to generate energy through anaerobic digestion.
She has been nominated in the Young Talent category of the HAS-awards 2013, organised by the HAS University of Applied Sciences in 's-Hertogenbosch, where she studies environmental sciences.
To win, Lise Marie needs people to vote for her online video, with the competition closing tomorrow.
The twenty-year-old, said: “Harper Adams University gave me the opportunity to become familiar with scientific research.
“Because of the excellent support that Harper Adams has given me, I was able to develop myself personally as well as on an academic level. On top of that my social life was great as I gained friends from all over the world.”
Lecturer in Sustainable Technologies, Dr Leticia Chico-Santamarta, supervised Lise Marie during her time at Harper Adams alongside a range of other staff. Dr Chico-Santamarta, said: “It was a great pleasure to work with Lise Marie as she worked really hard and was very eager to learn about a new topic.
“It was a challenging project but she completed it on time and developed ideas for further research.”
